Day 5 of Praying the Impossible: That the Lord would give us Intelligence and Diligence to Translate his Word
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 13:4 The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. Pray that the Lord would give much cultural wisdom, intelligence in analyzing language, insight into his Word, and day in and day out diligence to keep pressing on.
Day 4 of Praying the Impossible: That the Lord would Protect us
2 Thessalonians 3:2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. Pray that our lives might be preserved from religious radicals, sickness, disease, thieves, car accidents and so on that we might be able to see our translation project through to completion.
Day 3 of Praying the Impossible: That we would Fearlessly Declare the Gospel
Ephesians 6:19-20 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Pray that our ministry would be characterized by a dependence on the Spirit which would give us words to fearlessly preach the Gospel.
Day 2 of Praying the Impossible: That the Gospel would Spread Rapidly
2 Thessalonians 3:1a Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored. Pray that the message of Christ will be fascinating and wonderful to the people of Cameroon and that they would honor it and spread it even beyond their people group.
Day 1 of Praying the Impossible: That the People of Cameroon would Turn from Worthless Idols
By Stacey Psalm 96:5, 7-9 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens….Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness;tremble before him, all the earth! Join us in praying that even now the people of Cameroon will grow disillusioned with their idols and would see them as man-made, worthless, impotent, and an abomination before the true God. Pray that…
Praying the Impossible: A Call to Join us in 2 Weeks of Ambitious Prayer
By Stacey Matthew 19:26 “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Apart from Christ we can do nothing and we know it. With Christ, there are no limits to what the Lord may accomplish through two weak people like us. So, to those who are Christians, we invite you to join with us in prayer for the next 14 days to ask God for impossible things. We leave in two weeks, and although we know there will be hard times, we leave hopeful that the Lord would hear our prayers and use us to bring…
My Kids, The Disciples, and I Have Failed
It has been a rough week with our kids. We seek to be diligent parents: teaching them the Word, disciplining them when they sin, calling them to repentance and faith, memorizing Scripture as a family, and lots of hugging and playing. And yet, their response is often sin: whining instead of being thankful, lying instead of being truthful, stealing instead of being generous. And to top it off, potty training has not being going all that well so in the midst of dealing with all of that I often find myself on my hands and knees scrubbing urine out of…
Violence in Nigeria
According to an article I read today about Nigeria, recently:”…an Islamic militant group, invaded the off-campus hostel of Federal Polytechnic College on October 1 and murdered up to 30 students. The attack took place in the city of Mubi in remote Adamawa State, located in north-eastern Nigeria. Gunmen reportedly rounded up the students and demanded to know their names. If they gave a Christian name, they were given a chance to deny their Christian faith and convert to Islam by reciting the shahada (Muslim prayer of faith). If they refused and stood firm in their Christian faith, they were either…
Yayyy I’m Done!!!!
Whelp, today I finished all of the required classwork for the Certificate of Applied Linguistics at GIAL! This means I have all of the training I need for us to move to Cameroon! We have come so far! Thank you so much for praying for me as I went through the program. I was often studying into the early morning and waking up early for class. It was exhausting and exciting and I could not have done it without your prayers and God’s grace. But we are not done yet. We will have 5 weeks off and then Stacey will…
