The Bible – A Treasure Worth Sharing

It’s not crazy to leave one’s home and go overseas for the sake of Bible translation. Instead, what is crazy is to believe what we believe about the Bible and then be content to leave people without it…
The Bible
“This book contains; the mind of God, the way of salvation, doom of sinners, and happiness of believers.
Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.
Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you.
It’s a traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter.
Here paradise is restored, heaven is opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is its GRAND SUBJECT, our good it’s design, and the glory of God its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully.
It’s a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.
It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgment and remembered forever.
It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and condemns all who trifle with its contents.
This book unfolds Jehovah’s mind,
This voice salutes in accents kind,
This friend will all our needs supply,
This fountain sends out streams of joy.
This mine affords us boundless wealth,
This good physician gives us health,
This sun renews and warms the soul,
This sword both wounds and makes us whole.
This letter shows our sins forgiven,
This guide conducts us gates to heaven,
This charter has been sealed with blood,
This volume is THE WORD OF GOD.”
