The Story Behind the Kimyal Video: God Uses Polio Survivor to Translate his Word

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. – Psalm 147:10-11

Many of you are familiar with the Kimyal video that depicts the Kimyal people of Papua rejoicing to receive the New Testament in their language for the first time. But behind this scene of rejoicing was decades of hard labor among the Kimyal peoples. The pastor you saw praying in the video (Siud) was the son of a witch-doctor, one of the first missionaries was killed by a neighboring tribe, and one of the first translators had to be carried in because her legs were weakened by Polio. Watch this video and revel at the faithfulness of these missionaries who believed that the power of the Gospel could convert the warring tribe of the Kimyal people into worshipers of Jesus.
